Rehang a door that rubs
About two hours.
Asheville, North Carolina
Service
A door that rubs, a latch that misses, a knob that spins. Most of it is a half hour of adjusting and an hour of doing it carefully.
I plane and reset binding doors, tighten or replace hinges, move strike plates and fit locksets and levers you've bought. I can hang a slab or pre-hung interior door when the opening is square. Old mountain houses seldom are, so I check before I promise.

What changes the time
A frame that has settled can turn a one-hour rehang into three. I check with a level before I give you hours.
A solid wood door is heavy and slow to handle. A hollow one is quick, but it won't take a big mortise for a new lock.
Paint-sealed doors take care. In a house built before 1978 I may not be able to scrape them; the FAQ says why.

Questions
Yes, if it's the right size for the opening. Bring me the box, not just the door, so I have the hardware.
Only a swap in an existing opening of the same size. A new opening, a sidelight or a new frame goes to a contractor.
Usually. Humidity swells the wood, so I ease the edge and reset the hinges instead of cutting too much. I'll tell you if the real cause is the house.
I'll answer with the hours I expect and whether I'm the right person for it.
